The shares, or deposits, in every federal credit union (including Tower) are insured by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), which is managed by the NCUA. This insurance protects members against losses if a federally-insured credit union should fail. The fund is backed by the faith and credit of the U.S. government. Your share insurance is similar to the deposit insurance protection offered to banks through the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC)
